Blackjack was once a daper vessel recognized as extremely strong, seaworth, and fully capable of fine performance in any water! She is part of the 1965 (we think!) Chris-Craft Sea Skiff Divsions fleet built in Pompano Beach, Florida. The following pictures are from the sales catalogue of Chris-Craft Corporation.
"When old salts venture out on rough water, they prefer to have a round-bilge, full-lapstrake Sea Skiff hull under them. Because nothing does a better job of flattening waves. When the stout strakes of the Sea Skiff hull meet a wall of water, they transform it into a soft cushion for the boat to pass over. "
"But salt-water skippers aren't the only ones who favor Chris-Craft Sea Skiffs. Boatsmen on the big lakes and other inland water appreciate the softer ride and the feeling of confidence and security that their extra-strong lapstrake hulls offer. And when it come to a lapstrake hull with good looks, comfortable acommodations, and stern-to-stern utility, you can't beat a Chris-craft Sea Skiff."*

"The Sea Skiff hull starts with an inner keel of tough Philippine mahogany, flanked by main stringers of seasoned fir. Frames of steam-bent white oak are bolted into place. They're strong, yet resilient.
Sheets of five-ply, marine-grade plywood are pre-cut into strakes. Side strakes have an outer ply of Philippine mahogany with a phenolic resin overlay.
The strakes are laid into place on the frame. Copper, brass and silicon bronze fastenings are used."*
