How can you spend your time at the STONE HAUS'?
Start by sinking your toes into soft white sand beaches while you stroll the shoreline of Lake Superior... Pack a lunch and paddle through exhilarating whitewater rapids on your way through the National Forest... Charter a boat and hook into a 40+ inch Lake Trout... Toast your marshmallow to a perfect golden brown over an open fire... then have a hot shower and crawl into a warm bed! ...and that's just Saturday! Come find out for yourself...
Fishing Lake Superior
You don't have to have a big boat and lots of specialized equipment to fish the South Shore, and you don't have to go far off-shore to fish. In Spring and Fall, as soon as the ice goes out, Coho's looking for warmer water and food begin cruising the shoreline. From May through the first part of June the fish will be along the beaches. This is also the perfect time to look for spawning Steelhead. In the Fall, Coho's, Browns and Kings are back to the shoreline prior to their spawning runs. Charter fishing is also available out of the harbor in Port Wing. Feel free to call us for information on the better charters in the area.
Canoeing/Kayaking
You can enjoy canoeing and kayaking on the Brule River. The river offers a variety of slow and fast waters, so scout ahead and know your abilities. Rentals and shuttle services are available in the town of Brule. OR... Enjoy a day trip to the Apostle Islands, just over a half an hour's drive from the STONE HAUS'. Rentals and guide services are available out of Bayfield.
